Survival of the fittest at Darwin Centre launch
It was survival of the fittest at the launch party for the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum last night. Beautifully apt.
Sadly, however, I suspect it may have been unintentional. In the midst of sparkly human butterflies flapping through the air high above the heads of hundreds of guests, a giant fabric flower – also suspended at a great height – slowly came adrift from its awning and tipped sideways to reveal a frightened lone production man clinging on for dear life.
His desperate and prolonged efforts to flip the flamin’ flower upright were rewarded after long, painful minutes and everyone below breathed a sigh of relief that he didn’t plummet to the ground.
It was nice to see the butterflies battle on through and never drop their permagrins.
If that kind of action is guaranteed, I will definitely be booking that venue in future.
