Rockin’ around the Christmas tree

What Bing Crosby would make of it I can only wonder. But I can’t help admiring Eugenie Tham and her team of helpers for their brave attempt to turn White Christmas into an anthem for the events industry. Looking nothing less than sparkling in her Christmas tree costume, the Big Wednesday PR director and her assorted gang of reindeer, elves and angels are the stars of a video on You Tube which aims to encourage companies to book office Christmas parties. “I’m dreaming of an office party, just like the ones I used to know,” they sing. Only the most cold-hearted Scrooge would fail to feel heartened by their festive chorus. Anyway, once you’ve dried your eyes (whether from tears or laughter), there’s some fun to be had in trying to identify the faces behind the disguises. Young Guns’ Dickon Gough shows off an impressive baritone voice in his role as Rudolph, while Elemental Design’s Richard Elmer must have drawn the short straw to end up playing the miserly boss. Speaking of miserly bosses, it turns out that the Save the Office Party brigade paid a visit to the headquarters of BBC Radio 2 for a chat with Chris Evans in the hope of getting some publicity on the airwaves. Sadly, their hopes were dashed. Apparently, the ginger-haired DJ was unable to talk about the subject on air due to the BBC’s own cutbacks! There’s only one word for that… Humbug! And I’m sure Bing Crosby would agree.
